Small Business Innovation Research program will be accepting submissions starting June 25 for technologies that augment the vision of Special Operations Forces. Opens June 25.

Problem

Special Operations Forces lack compact, modular visual augmentation systems capable of delivering multi-spectrum situational awareness without compromising mobility or operational effectiveness.

Opportunity

USSOCOM is seeking solutions that augment the vision of warfighters. Specifically, they want solutions that can be incorporated into existing helmet-mounted (~8-24 oz), weapon-mounted (~8-48 oz), or handheld (~24-88 oz) equipment, and that are associated with the visible, near infrared, short- mid- and long-wave infrared electromagnetic spectrums.

Among the capabilities of interest are:

  • Novel sensor and imaging technologies

  • Passive range measurement technologies

  • Laser detection/warning technologies

  • Optical Augmentation Detection/Defeat/Enable devices

And many more.

Submissions

USSOCOM is conducting a feasibility study to assess what is in the “art of the possible.” Funds during Phase I will be for the sole purpose of conducting that study, not developing operational prototypes.

Deadline

Submission opening is June 25.
